Oh my Lamington! How good are fresh baked treats, and even better when they are made with love right on site every day by our very own baker! Even when traveling around beautiful Bali with all of the culinary choices we are faced with, it’s always nice to enjoy a little piece of Australia right at The Deck Café & Bar at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa. Named after the Governor of Queensland, Lord Lamington, who held office from 1896 to 1901, the Lamingtons are said to have been invented by his French chef who happened to put together a treat with whatever ingredients he had available at the time, dipping the vanilla sponge cake in chocolate and covering it in dried coconut. Why coconut? The chef’s wife was Tahitian and always had coconut in the kitchen, so baking goodness worlds collided at the hands of romance in this case. Mmmmmm…. So they finally made their way to Nusa Lembongan, and a yummy treat they are when you’re ready to indulge in holiday sweeties. After all, who knows what variations could come out of our kitchen with the local baker and his wife’s cooking ingredients? Get them while they are fresh….daily!
