Behind Our Scenes: Meet Nugara

It sure speaks volumes when the staff alone at The Deck Cafe & Bar at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa have the chance to vote for their peers for the “Employee of the Quarter” accolade, and the votes are nearly unanimous. This was the case for Nugara – our very well-loved and respected waiter / bartender on Nusa Lembongan! He sure is something special, working with the effort, speed, positive attitude, and particularly the heart of a few combined. In the one year that Nugara has been working with us, he quickly earned the respect & friendship from the rest of the staff. Having previously worked at some well-known lounges and bars on the mainland of Bali in the bustling Seminyak, Nugara wanted to be closer to his family on Nusa Penida so he decided to move to Nusa Lembongan to have only a few minutes’ commute to his wife and new baby daughter. With all his commuting spare time he has also been able to devote more time to his favourite hobby of fishing, where the biggest fish he has caught was a 3kg Jacket Fish – yum! However he says that he only catches something every 1 in 10 times, but it’s all about the process. What Nugara likes most about working at The Deck, #1 he says the staff is like a family, and that is what keeps him going. #2 he loves the atmosphere, #3 he likes the guests and the clientele we host, and #4 reason on his list? It’s not too hot! Whatever floats the (fishing) boat for Nugara! We sure are happy to have him, so come by and see what the rest of the staff see in him with his warm smile and friendly personality – we couldn’t be more grateful to have him as part of the Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa family 🙂
