It is no secret that at The Deck Cafe & Bar at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa, we are pretty passionate about music. And with some of the incredibly talented international musicians based in Bali, we couldn’t resist but to start up a new sunset series with an acoustic vibe! Starting Wednesday June 27th and every Wednesday thereafter from 6-9pm, The Deck Cafe & Bar is excited to host some pretty amazing artists…Coming up…
June 27 Phil Stoodley has seen his fair share of travelling; whether from stage to stage with a guitar in hand or just jumping borders with a map and a whim, a desire to ll pages with fresh creativity has driven him for the better part of his adult life. As fate had it, this musician was given his first guitar at age fifteen after his dad ‘got lucky’ at the horses. By seventeen he was bashing out tunes in heavy metal rock band “Silent Scream” and making a name for himself at pubs and festivals throughout the lower North Island of New Zealand. Also working in music production for festivals and concerts for international acts such as Tina Turner, Crowded House and Joe Cocker. Early 2010 brought Phil more recognition with the release of his debut solo single ‘Waiting For Thursday’, co-written with acclaimed New Zealand actor Leighton Cardno, before later releasing his self-produced debut album ‘No Surprise’. Now one of the top respected musicians in Bali, we look forward to hosting him.
July 4 Softly woven acoustic based tunes combined with raw lyrics, smooth melodies and layered with a thick vocal presence, Athron‘s music combines a rich blend of emotive sounds to guarantee satisfaction for the senses. After establishing himself as a solo performer in Sydney over a decade ago, Athron released a full length album ‘Taming Butterflies’ before escaping to Bali where his focus remained with music, writing, gigging. Building on his use of loop pedals to create multiple vocal harmonies and layered guitars, Athron quickly won over audiences, performing with touring artists such as Michael Franti.
July 11 Songstress Leanna Rachel, an LA native who weaves together vocals dripping with emotion, acoustic guitar, guitarlele, and mbira to create ethereal ballads. Soulful, classic songwriting steeped in folklore, woven into a dreamlike mood, she elicits both authenticity and mystery, fragility and strength. She has even played alongside José González, Little Dragon, Bonobo and Angus & Julia Stone.
July 18 The gypsy Lydia Rose from Melbourne, Australia began her musical journey throughout Europe, Africa, USA, Asia and performed at the hottest venues in New York, New Orleans, London and Ibiza. It was in Ibiza that she co-founded the island acoustic band ‘Ladidah’ and sang at the most prestigious clubs and beach bars including the worlds’ Iconic Cafe del Mar and Pacha. Lydia performs with various world class musicians and DJs in Asia and Australia. The musical lineup includes the options of guitar (featuring Indonesia’s top guitarist~ Mr Dickie Fitrianto), Saxophone, Bongos, or Dj’s.
